Come audition and be a part of an amazing concert season with the Houston Choral Society!
Auditions consist of the following:

1. Vocalization to hear your upper and lower ranges

2. Pitch-memory exercises

3. Sight-reading excerpt

4. Prepared piece of your choosing (aria, art song, hymn, etc.) - Please bring a copy for the provided accompanist

Auditions are for new membership (current membership does not need to re-audition).

Details:
Auditions and rehearsals are held at Tallowood Baptist Church Choral Hall. Regular rehearsals are held every Monday evening from 7:00 PM to 9:15 PM, unless announced otherwise. Members are expected to attend all rehearsals unless extenuating circumstances arise. Additionally, there may be dress, technical, orchestra, and/or sectional rehearsals called before a performance, usually on Thursdays, in order to fine-tune the concert. Auditions will be performed in front of an audition panel, including the artistic director and section directors.2025-2026 Concert Season:

• October 24:Celebrating Woman Composers- A collaboration concert between the Energy Corridor of Houston Orchestra, performing Sorenson's Requiem and Hagenberg's Illuminare - Tallowood Baptist Church

• December 20: A Glorious Christmas- Featuring Michael John Trotta's Gloria, Pinkham's Christmas Cantata, and other holiday favorites at The Foundry Church

• March 20: America's 250th! - Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary with an all-American program featuring classical and patriotic works, plus our two new choral composition winners- Tallowood Baptist Church

• May 16: A Journey of Song - A concert featuring choral works celebrating the 10th anniversary of Dr. Kevin Klotz as Artistic Director - at St. Laurence Catholic Church
