Grant Us Peace
Our season finale will feature Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem, a dramatic plea for peace based on poems by Walt Whitman, Biblical passages, and other sources. Some of the featured movements include “Beat! Beat! Drums!,” “Reconciliation,” and “Dirge for Two Veterans.” The program also features Johannes Brahms’ Schicksalslied, considered to be one of the composer’s most beautiful and exquisite shorter works. Houston Choral Society is excited to share the stage with the Houston Christian University Choirs and the Houston Civic Symphony! It will be a grand musical collaboration that will amaze and reach deep into the hearts of the audience.

A Night of Jazz
Houston Choral Society is known for its versatility and performances of various musical genres. We are thrilled to present our first ever jazz concert this season and to spotlight local talent! A Night of Jazz will feature the work Images, by Houstonian Rob Landes. The program will also include familiar “standards” and songs by Bob Chilcott, Will Todd, and more. Enjoy these swinging sounds of harmony, syncopation, and scat, in collaboration with a jazz trio!
Bonus: this program will also feature the HCS premiere of the choral compositions by our two winning composers!
