  • A Merry Magnificat

    Celebrate the joyous Christmas season with us as we lead sing-alongs, popular and cherished carols, and present the joyful Magnificat in D Major by J.S. Bach, along with a full orchestra. This festive program promises to get everyone in the mood for the holiday season! Also at this concert, the winners of our Composer Competition will be revealed. Don't miss this exciting HCS first!

  • A Night of Jazz

    Friday, March 7th, 2025 at 7:30PM

    Houston Choral Society is known for its versatility and performances of various musical genres. We are thrilled to present our first ever jazz concert this season and to spotlight local talent! A Night of Jazz will feature the work Images, by Houstonian Rob Landes. The program will also include familiar “standards” and songs by Bob Chilcott, Will Todd, and more. Enjoy these swinging sounds of harmony, syncopation, and scat, in collaboration with a jazz trio!

    Bonus: this program will also feature the world premiere of the choral compositions by our two winning composers!

  • Grant Us Peace

    Friday, May 2nd, 2025 at 7:30PM

    Our season finale will feature Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem, a dramatic plea for peace based on poems by Walt Whitman, Biblical passages, and other sources. Some of the featured movements include “Beat! Beat! Drums!,” “Reconciliation,” and “Dirge for Two Veterans.”

    The program also features Johannes Brahms’ Schicksalslied, considered to be one of the composer’s most beautiful and exquisite shorter works. Houston Choral Society is excited to share the stage with the Houston Christian University Choirs and the Houston Civic Symphony! It will be a grand musical collaboration that will amaze and reach deep into the hearts of the audience.

  • Voices Take Flight

    This uplifting program will feature a variety of styles by both traditional and modern-day composers, such as Felix Mendelssohn, Elaine Hagenberg, Moses Hogan and more! Spirits will soar at this special concert of heartfelt and engaging choral works. It will be a delight for all!
